Top Ten Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any pictures of the Jersey Devil?
There are no pictures of the Jersey Devil that are undisputed. However, there are some photographs that people claim were taken of the creature. Click here to view them.

What are you going to do if you catch the Jersey Devil?
Well, it is not our intention to "catch" the Jersey Devil, so to speak. We are not actually hunting the creature. We're hunting for information and proof of the creature. Therefore, when we encounter the creature for certain, we will be recording as much information as possible to prove its existence and find out as much as we can about it without harming it or taking it out of its environment.

What do you believe the Jersey Devil to be?
We believe that the Jersey Devil is an undiscovered, biological creature. This would explain why it's been seen in so many different places, why it's been seen for so many years, and why the descriptions differ from witness to witness.

Has the Jersey Devil been seen outside of New Jersey?
Yes, many times. Both Pennsylvania and New York have had their share of Jersey Devil sightings, and other states have reported something matching the Jersey Devil's descriptions (such as Ohio, Virginia, Delaware, and Texas).

Has the Jersey Devil ever hurt anyone?
According to our records, no. I don't have any reports of the creature attacking, hurting, or killing a human being. Dogs, birds, and livestock are a different story - it has attacked and killed many of them.

What is the location of the house foundation where it was supposedly born?
Unfortunately, we are not permitted to disclose that information based on an agreement that we made with the local township officials. Sorry about that!

Why are the descriptions of the creature so different between witnesses?
Our theory about the differing descriptions is that there may be more than one creature that people are seeing (see our answer for what we believe the Jersey Devil to be). This would explain why some seem taller or are a different color. Also, in some cases the events surrounding the sightings are different - some see it from a distance, some up close, others are seeing it during the day, some at night, etc. All of those factors can influence what people think they see.

Have you ever seen the Jersey Devil?
We believe that we have come close to the Jersey Devil, even to the point where we have heard its scream, however we cannot say for certain at this point that we have had an indisputable sighting of the Jersey Devil.

Does the Jersey Devil still exist?
We believe so, yes. Believable sightings are still being reported up to this year. People are still contacting us regarding strange events that they experience in the area. At this point, we have plenty of reasons to believe that it could still be out there, and few reasons to believe that it's not.

Is it safe to go on a Devil Hunt, and what would I need to bring if I were to go myself?
It is definitely dangerous to go out in the Pine Barrens in search of the Jersey Devil. If you decide to venture out there yourself, we have a few recommendations. Never go alone. Always bring a cellphone or other means to contact the outside world in the event of an emergency. Bring survival gear - a first aid kit, a flashlight, etc. to be prepared for anything. Cover yourself in bug spray, since the Pine Barrens are home to deer ticks and mosquitos. Make sure you know the area that you're going to, and don't go too far off of the path - it's incredibly easy to get lost out there, and difficult for someone else to come and find you. Just be safe! You can always contact us if you'd like any other tips.
