My friend has a cabin about 4 or 5 miles away from the nearest residence, and we decided to stay the night there. We were sitting around the campfire at about 2:30AM when he suggested we go for a walk down this old dirt road we saw earlier.
Walking down the trail, he keeps telling me he hears a horse or something with hooves. I laughed off his comments and kept walking. Then I started hearing them also. We both stopped walking, held our breath and looked down the trail ahead. We see
this "thing" for a split second - it bent its large wings and took off into the air. It had loud hellish screeching yells. It took off so high and fast we couldn't think or move.
By the time we caught our breath, we took off running. We got no sleep. Later that night we heard scratching at the side of the cabin and we could hear hooves again. The next morning, we went home with a sigh of relief. We both still refuse to go
back. Most people think we were drinking or something and don't believe us.
The creature we saw was tall, grayish brown, with longer pointed ears. It walked on two legs, and had huge bony wings and hooves.
