The Birthday Sighting

I was out in my backyard with my friends. It was my birthday. My yard has a steep slope that leads into the woods. I heard a screech and went to investigate. When I got there, there was blood on the ground and a deer carcass nearby. I heard leaves rustling behind me and I turned to see a creature with wings there. It was dark so it was hard to see, but I did see wings. I turned and ran like hell!
