This was recent - Dec. 26th at 7:05 am, on Pomona Road near Stockton State College And Evergreen Woods Campground. We were going out after Christmas shopping and my husband was driving. I was talking to him as I noticed a weird expression on his face. I turned at the same time he was saying, "did; you see that? What was it?" I can tell you it wasn't a deer, at this very same minute there was a black pickup truck stopped on the other side of road. He was looking into the woods also, so this person saw the same thing. My husband described it as a panther - looking thing. It was very large and black. It had thick legs and walked on all fours as it wandered into the woods. Not knowing what it was, I suggested "maybe; a bear?" But he says not from what he saw, he doesn't know what it was. We came home wondering and telling a few people (of course getting teased). A few days go by and we see a documentary on the jersey devil, we couldn't believe it! It sounded as if my husband described it. I am really freaked out and want to call the police but who knows if they think we are freaks. Since this happened I am scared to go back and look, even scared to go out at night with my dog...
