My friends and I would camp out near Forked River about 10 times a year to ride dirt bikes and quads. We
would go on our version of a devil hunt. At midnight, the 5 to 8 of us would go flying around the trails at 40-50 mph looking for the Jersey
Devil. Frequently the first and second rider would claim they saw the Jersey Devil. The rest of us further back in the pack wouldn't believe
them. Until one time, I was riding in the second position in the group. I saw a creature standing on the side of the trail that was not a deer.
It was light tan, almost white. The head was larger than a deer's, the nose drooped slightly almost like a camel. It had large black eyes, set in the front of
the head (not towards the side like a deer). It had a long neck, I could see down past its shoulders but there was no body behind it and I've never seen
a deer sitting down. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be seeing it and it could make you not see it if it had the chance. As usual, the people in the back
of the group didn't see it and didn't believe it.
