| I was raised in Leeds Point, and I have never
seen the Jersey Devil but sure as hell heard it! I was walking
through the woods with my mother and sister. We were on our way to my great
grandmother's house when I heard it. My mother said, "Grab your sister and run!"
Since she was born and raised in the immediate area (Oceanville), she knew
exactly what the sound was and told me all about the Jersey Devil. I do remember that the
woods got really quiet and then we heard that "screech". I will
never forget that sound, it was like nothing I have ever heard before and
have heard nothing even remotely close to it since! |
